1980 batch of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) superannuated officer of the Assam–Meghalaya cadre. Over a career spanning more than 37 years, served both in Assam and Government of India, contributing to the conservation of the country’s rich natural heritage both in-situ and ex-situ conservation serving as Dy Field director Manas Tiger Reserve, DFO Eastern Assam Wildlife Division (DFO Kaziranga) ,Director Assam state Zoo Guwahati, Director Kaziranga National Park, and CCF wildlife, monitoring and evaluation Assam Guwahati in state of Assam, Lead the IRV 20-20 from the front in initial stage and continue to be as member of Rhino Task force for Assam. And as Director National Zoological Park(Delhi Zoo), Member Secretary Central Zoo Authority, Additional Director General (Project Tiger & Wildlife), and Member Secretary of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) on deputation to the Government of India. And retired in February 2017 as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Assam. After superannuation associated with GTF as program leader and with WWF India. Also associate with translocation of rhinos from RR1 to RR2 in Dudhuwa Tiger reserve and prepared report on feasibility of rhino introduction in Katarniaghat, WLS UP , presently member of Rhino Task Force in Assam and Bihar.
